Travel accessories and travel comfort Buying GuidesHotel is the temporary home for travelers and businessmen, so choosing a safe hotel is very important. The following are some tips to make your stay in hotel safe and pleasant.
I. When booking, make sure:
Is the hotel accredited as a safe hotel? If yes, check out the specific security measures adopted on fire prevention and the safety of lives & property. For example:
• Does the hotel locate in a safe area with low crime rate?
• Does the hotel have safety exit?
• Is each guest room equipped with fire alarm system?
• Is every guest room equipped with safety doors and windows?
Is the keycard, deadbolt locks or inside peephole available?
In fact, a hotel with modern electronic locks is your best choice for its high-level security.
• Can the guests get an outside line from their rooms?
Avoid booking rooms on the first floor, which are highly accessible to thieves. The fourth to sixth floors are the best, because they offer easy access to the fire-department ladders.
II. When arriving, make sure:
Keep your luggage within your sight until the hotel porter's coming.
Do not distinguish yourself with a large amount of cash or expensive jewelry. Remember to keep a low profile to avoid excessive attention.
Register only your name without your title which indicates your status and your wealth.
Require the receptionist to keep secret about your room number and call you if someone wants to find you. Do not mention your room number in the elevator, hallway or other public places.
Check out whether the receptionist directly returns your credit card or ID card, and whether they are the correct ones.
III. When entering your room, make sure:
All facilities work properly, including the door, windows, lights, telephone, closets, bathroom, etc. It is better to check them in front of the room keeper and if anything goes wrong, report to the front desk immediately.
Reading the hotel regulations may also provide you with the tips of security-keeping. Make sure you know the direct way to the elevator, fire escapes and nearest telephone.
Don't open the door until identifying the outsider through the peephole. Always keep alert to strangers, especially ask your children not to open the door for them. If you find something suspicious, call the safeguard immediately.
Keep the key within your reach, in case you need it in a hurry.
Never leave valuable things in the room, such as jewelry, cash, checks, house keys or top secret business documents. You can place them in the deposit place of the hotel.
Write down the local emergency numbers in case something happens.
Don't mention any important numbers on the hotel telephone, in case someone is eavesdropping. If somebody call you and say there is something wrong with your bill, you'd better check it in person, not on the phone.
IV. When leaving the room, make sure:
Leave the light or television on, which indicates you are in the room.
Do not use the "clean the room" sign, which indicates that there is no one in the room. If you need maid service, call the housekeeping department.
Lock the door securely.
Don't display your key in public, in case of the crook around you.
When coming back late at night, use the main course where people go frequently.
V. Special advices for women and children:
Women should not stay alone at night, especially in the parking area.
Women should not wear valuable jewelry and extremely sexy dress when traveling out.
Never leave your baby child alone in the room or in public places, even for a little while.
Never allow children to play alone out of your sight in the hotel.
Double check you bathroom and don't let your children bathe alone.
