Arranging your kids to travel alone is a good way to improve their self-control ability.
Although all of the major airlines in US permit kids no less than 5 years old to travel by themselves, there are many affairs need to be well organized during the travel. According to the persuasive analyses of kids traveling accidents by experts, here are several valuable tips for your consideration.

Safety traveling knowledge

Before traveling, parents should teach some useful safety traveling knowledge to their children.

For example, do not let your kids get close to wheels or stand in front of the train. When embarking and disembarking, the entrance is usually crowded. Ask your kids to stay away from the pushing crowd to avoid any possible danger.

Show your kids how to use the emergency braking systems or emergency exit. Don't allow your little ones to play with these emergency facilitates at any time.

Ask your kids to act appropriately in public places. In the evening or the early morning, most passengers are sleeping, so you should tell your kids not to make noise at that time.

It would be very dangerous for your kids to talk to or go with strangers. Make sure your kids know how to ask for help when they are threatened or mistreated by ill-disposed people.

Traveling matters concerned

Mark sure your kids are old enough to take a travel alone by public transportations.

Do not allow your kids to eat too much fast food. Order a meal for them, if necessary.

Tell your kids how long the travel would be and show them where the toilet is. If possible, choose the shortest and most direct route in order to avoid changing trains or airplanes. You may choose to buy a bunk ticket for your kids, if the travel would take quiet a long time.

You'd better ask a friend to pick up your kids at the destination. Make sure your friend knows all the details of the travel, and can contact you immediately. If necessary, send a photo of your kids to him/her.

Besides, travel may be boring and baldness, don't forget to let your kids take some interesting toys, tasty snacks or their favorite books. Those things would detract kids' attention and make them calm.

Leave your telephone number and home address information in your kids' luggage. It will be a great help in case of emergency.

Give your children a calling card or a mobile phone, and teach them to use it. Make sure they can reach you by using them in an urgent time.

Time permitted, you may send your kids on the train or airplane, check the safety of their seats, and put their luggage in a right place.

If your kids get motion sickness easily, you'd better let them take some medicine. Kids sitting in the back seats may feel uncomfortable when the train or bus is moving unstably. It is a good idea to book seats close to the window, because fresh air and outside views can detract your kids' attention and reduce their discomfort.
