What about liquids restriction and are there any exceptions

Now, many countries have defined restrictions on the type and quantity of liquids that may be carried in hand baggage through the airport, or on flights arriving into or departing from their countries.

These restrictions protect air travelers against the current security threat.

The European Union (EU) Liquid Policy
Limited quantities of liquids, gels or pastes should be held in individual containers with maximum capacity of 100ml. This may include: medicines, shampoo, creams, hair gel, hair spray, suntan lotions, toothpaste, liquid/aerosol deodorants, perfumes, cosmetics (mascara, lip gloss), water and other drinks, soups and syrups, as well as other items of similar consistency.

The containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8 x 8 inches) or equivalent to one liter capacity. At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.

Many European countries are affected by the EU liquids in hand baggage policy, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

The North American Liquid Policy
The Transportation Security Administration in the USA and the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority have relaxed the restrictions on the carriage of liquids. US airlines and Canada airlines' passengers can take limited quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols in their hand luggage, including travel-size toiletries such as shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray. Containers holding liquids should not exceed three ounces or 90ml. Passengers carrying liquids may be subject to secondary searches before boarding.

But some countries, such as India, Kenya, Pakistan, St Lucia do not permit liquids, gels or cosmetics at all in passenger cabin baggage.

Exceptions: Breast Milk, Baby Food & More.

Parents of babies, of course, have to bring aboard nourishment for their little ones. Baby formula and milk are allowed in quantities greater than three ounces, and don't need to be packed in the zip-top bag. You need to declare these items for inspection at the security checkpoint. Parents can also stock their carry-on bag with baby food in cans or jars, and gel or liquid-filled teethers for babies. There are also allowances for creams, medicines, and other essential items for kids.
