Fortunately, there is a newly introduced exception for your sensitive equipment, such as cameras, flash lights, brackets and stands.

But some devices are not permitted to use during the flying, because your using them will affect aircraft navigational or communication system. Such devices include radios, battery or cord operated TV sets, TV cameras, electronic games or toys with remote control, cordless computer mice and portable GPS. For American Airlines or Air Canada passengers, the following information may be useful.

American Airlines
Camera, film, lighting, and sound equipment (up to a maximum of 115 in/292 cm and 100 lbs/45 kgs) will be charged a rate of $50.00 per piece when tendered by representatives of network or local television broadcasting companies, commercial film-making companies, the federal government, Department of Defense or the American Society of Media Photographers.

Air Canada
You can place electronic items in your carry-on baggage. But before bringing an electronic item on-board, you may be asked to turn its power on at the security check.
If you are carrying remotely-controlled equipment such as toys, please ensure they are packed in your checked baggage. This will make clearing of your carry-on baggage much easier.
