Traveling situation for disabilities and medical conditions has greatly improved these years.
However, those travelers may still come across various difficulties. The following tips will help overcome the snags of their travels.

I. Necessary arrangement before travel
1. Plan ahead. Make an elaborate schedule that can facilitate your transportation and handle any accident or possible obstacle.

2. Try to travel at off-season.

3. Try not to travel alone. If impossible, choose a companion who has expertise.

4. Familiarize with relevant laws and regulations about disability and medical condition. Most of rules provide prohibition of discriminatory practices and facility accessibility to protect people with disability and medical condition. For example, planes with more than 100 seats are required to have space to store folding wheelchairs. Take advantage of laws to defend yourself if necessary.

F. Whether there is physician or hospital available for treating your disability and medical condition. You can get information from your doctor, insurance company and so on.

6. Confirm your reservation of accommodation. Make all the important proofs in written form in case the hotel denies your reservation.

7. Make sure you have contact method of your doctor. Consult your doctor about how to keep healthy, and other important issues. Ask him/her for some medical reports or letters in case you need those to prove your particularity.

8. Pack light and simple. If you have too much luggage, demand a baggage cart if possible or ask for help from the crew or other passengers. Most people are willing to help the inconvenient. Bring spare parts of your assistive device in the event of sudden breakdown.

9. Make sure you have taken enough medication. You may also want to bring some extra medications and put them aside in separate place in case of unexpected loss of the medicine.

10. Buy necessary insurance. Make sure your assistive devices are in the scope of insurance.

II. Notice on air travel
1. Choose one-stop flight to save your time and ease the complexity.

2. Arrive early at the airport.

3. Tell the screener that your implanted device or assistive tool may set off the alarm.

4. Require early board for free of rushing hassle.

5. Put your luggage under your feet for convenient picking-up.

6. Do moderate exercise to resist blood clots, stiffness of muscle and soreness.

7. Make sure all the items you packed are within the range of regulation. Don't forget to attach identification tag on your carry-on.

III. In the accommodation
1. Demand for a room on the ground floor or near elevator for easy mobility.

2. Check the safety of the room and surroundings.

3. Take several small meals in a day to acclimatize to new environment and avoid discomfort caused by jet lag.

4. Make full preparation for every out-going and departure.

5. Don't forget to take medicine in time.

Traveling can be hard for people with disabilities and medical conditions. But if you make a good plan and take certain precautions, your trips will be as safe and comfortable as they can.
