Can I bring infant equipment - car/booster seats/travel cots? Does the airline provide infant seat?

Category: Carry-on luggage requirements

YES! Airlines love kids! They often provide some policies, regulations, and tips to help you plan your trip with your infant or child, and to help make your travel as enjoyable as possible.
Usually, one fully collapsible pushchair per child may be carried free of charge. Additional infant equipment such as car/booster seats and travel cots may be carried in addition to your personal checked baggage allowance. The following policies are for passengers traveling by British Airways, United Airlines or Singapore Airlines:

British Airways
If you prefer to use your own seat then it must meet the following standards:
1) a seat designed to be secured by means of a normal aircraft single lap strap and face the same direction as the passenger seat on which it rests
2) a purpose-designed children's car seat with a 5-point restraining harness
3) the seat must not exceed the dimensions of the aircraft seat
British Airways also supply specially designed carrycots, so your infant can sleep on board. These are particularly useful for longhaul flights.

United Airlines
If you don't purchase a seat for your kids and they are under 2 years old, you are permitted to carry on board an approved safety infant seat. But it can only be used when there is an adjoining unoccupied seat available.

Singapore Airlines
The use of booster seats and vest or harness-type child restraint systems is prohibited.
Approved car-type child seats may be used for child under three years but not less than six months of age. Besides, a limited number of bassinets are available onboard on a first-come, first-served basis. The dimensions of the bassinets are 769 L x 299 W x 200 H (mm). Bassinets can support a maximum weight of 14kg.
