Waiting usually makes people feel uneasy, and it is boring especially at places like an airport.
Here are things to do to reduce your wait times when you are at the airport.

I. Reducing checkpoint wait times
1. Print your boarding pass on the airline website, so you don't have to wait in line at the airport check-in counter. Most airlines have online check-in service which allows you to print your boarding pass from your computer. This service is usually provided twenty-four hours before your flight.

2. Do not bring prohibited items. Prohibited items such as explosive materials, flammable items not only waste your time at the checkpoint but may also bring you a lawsuit or confiscation.

3. Avoid wearing clothes that contain too much metal lest they set off the metal alarm. In that case, you'll be required to have an individual or additional private checking, which will cost more time.

4. Do not lock your bag, if you must, use a TSA-recognized lock.

5. Put your cash, ID card, jewelry, cell phone and other valuables in your carry-on baggage.

6. Do not bring too much baggage. Free carry-on baggage allowance is one carry-on bag plus a personal item.

7. Keep easy access to your airline boarding pass and government-issued photo ID until exiting the security checkpoint. Because of different airport configurations, you will be required to show these documents more than once.

8. Take your laptop and video cameras out of their cases and place them in a bin provided at the checkpoint for security check.

II. Tips helping you kill wait times at the airport
Now everything is done, but there's still some time left before boarding. The only thing you can do is to wait. Then how to kill the time? Here are some tips.

1. Use the airport facilities

You can use the public telephone to make a phone call to your family or friend. Or you can do some shopping in the shopping area.

2. Use your entertainment gadget

Magazine, newspaper, or a MP3 can bring you some entertainment and help you kill time. Also, when listening to the music, you can relax and feel easy.

3. Make friends with people around

Familiar environment makes people feel better than an alien environment, so try to make friends with people around.
But don't reveal too much private information such as your family address. If you travel with friends or family, chatting with them is always a good way of killing time.

4. Arrange your belongings and check your documents

After the careful security check, your bag may need a repack. And you should check if all of your documents are properly placed.

5. Take a nap

But don't oversleep, and take care of your carry-on baggage.
