Identity theft, how scared when you know someone is pretending to be you!

It usually happens when someone uses your personal ID information like your name, social security number or credit card number to do something fraud or even commit crimes. For example, identity theft may steal your credit card number and use it to fraud or purchase. You may never notice this until you check your credit card report or bank statements and finally get to know that you have been charged by strange items.

Types of identity theft
Identity theft is divided into four types: financial identity theft tends to use your identity to consume; criminal identity theft likes to pretend to be you when commit crime; identity cloning theft uses your information to assume his/her identity every day; business/commercial identity theft obtains credit by using your business name and information.

Identity crimes may include: illegal immigration, terrorism, espionage, black mail and insurance stealing etc.

Identity theft is very dangerous. If you are victimized by identity theft, you may lose your job opportunity, be denied loans for education, housing or cars because of the negative information on credit reports. Rarely but possibly, you may even be arrested for crimes you don't commit. So learning how to find out whether your identity is stolen is quite necessary.

How can you notice identity stealing?
Take credit card information stealing for example, you'd better check your bank statements and account information each month on a regular basis. So you may be able to limit the loss and find the abnormal situation in time.

However, unluckily, some might find out that their identities had been stolen after their bill collection agencies noticed them that they had overdue debts, their loans were held up, or even got a house they never bought.

If those happen to you, you should immediately file a police report, check your credit reports, notify creditors, and dispute with persons in charge about any abnormal transactions you never did.

In one word, remember to be aware of your confidential identity information and do something necessary to protect it. Also, learn what to do when you suspect your identity is stolen.
