How to Protect Fragile Items in Screening

Some airlines require that fragile items should be placed in your carry-on bags.
Because they consider it is too risky to put fragile items in checked luggage and some of them have to be inspected in screening.

However, some airlines accept fragile items in checked baggage. But even so, airlines are not responsible for the loss, damage or delay of a fragile item.

Packing tips
Take extra care of your fragile items like dishes, glasses, crystal, china, mirrors and works of art etc. when you wrapping and packing. Plates, saucers and bowls should be wrapped separately and stacked in sets of each three or four. Then pack again each stack before putting all the items into a cushioned box. Keep in mind that stacks of fragile items should never lay flat and be placed face down. Cups and glasses should be wrapped individually with extra paper and bubble wrap and placed rim down at the top of the box. Other stuff like crystal, figurines and glasses should also be wrapped with bubble wrap or packed in small boxes with cushion. Mirrors should be wrapped tightly with two inches of cushion around the edges.
The box that the mirrors in should also be padded fully with crinkle paper to avoid shifting in moving.


Packing systems
There are diverse systems for holding fragile items in the market. They normally have at least one fastening device for securing the fragile items to the support panel. One of the patented packing system includes a fastener member, a fastener securing member and an item-attachment member. After several steps of manipulation, the fragile items will be sure to be stored on the support panel.
