That depends. If you and your checked luggage are on the same plane, your luggage will reach the destination at the same time when you arrive.
However, when you and your luggage are on different flights, you may pick up your luggage at a later time. Here, we will give you more suggestions when you encounter luggage transfer on different airplanes and when you come across delayed/missing luggage.

1) For luggage transfer on different airplanes
a. If airlines that transfer your luggage have baggage transfer agreement, they will transfer your luggage automatically without troubling you too much.

b. You may need to reclaim your bags, recheck them with the second airline, and re-clear security when the transfer airlines don't have baggage transfer agreement.

2) For delayed/missing luggage
If your luggage doesn't show up for a very long time, you should be aware that your luggage may be delayed or missing. At the moment, you need to notify on-ground staff instantly and then the relevant institution at the airport will give you a form/report. After finishing the form/report, you should submit it to the institution before you leave the airport or clear the customs.
