Packing luggage is always a headache for those not familiar with the airline luggage allowance and rules. The luggage allowance is the maximum number, size and weight of bags that each customer is allowed.

Whether you are planning a weekend escape or a long family vacation to Hong Kong, the information you need regarding your baggage can be found in the following section.

For all classes in Dragonair, each passenger (except an infant) is allowed one cabin bag up to 56x36x23cm (22x14x9 in) in size and 5kg (11lbs) in weight. These dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets.

Duty-free items are also included in your cabin baggage allowance. Besides the above mentioned allowance, you may carry on board some items free. Check the website to find the specific items information:

For Cathay Pacific passengers, one piece of hand luggage not exceeding 20x14x9 inches in dimension is allowed. Weight limits vary by class of service. Passengers in First Class or Invitation, Diamond tier members could take one bag not exceeding 15kg (33 lbs). The total weight should not exceed 10kg (22 lbs) for Business Class or Gold, Silver tier members.

And in Economy Class the maximum weight is 7kg (15lbs). If you are traveling in two classes on one journey, you can enjoy the greater allowance for the whole journey. Find detailed information at:

All your luggage should go through security checks. In these checks, local authorities are authorized to confiscate items of potential danger to the aircraft or its passengers, such as pocket knives, scissors, and any bladed or sharp items. To avoid possible inconvenience, you'd better pack such items in your checked baggage.

For travelers to and from the USA, Canada, Central and South American countries, Cathay Pacific permits two bags no heavier than 70lbs. The checked baggage allowance for all other routes vary by class for other passengers from locations except America. Cathay Pacific passengers' checked baggage allowance is also based on their class.
