With the latest security system, you might think delayed luggage would be a thing of the past. Yes, most of the time, our bag obediently appears on the conveyor belt.
However, for many reasons, luggage still goes missing once in a while. So this article gives advice on how to minimize the inconvenience of the delayed baggage and what to do when you face this situation.

If you are unable to locate your checked luggage upon arrival, don't panic. Please contact your airline personnel and they will ask you to file a report to their Baggage Services Counter prior to leaving the airport.

You need to know that Hong Kong Airways'liability for delay to baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges paid. Besides, they accept no liability for the loss of jewelery, other valuables or money, and drug, business documents contained in both checked and unchecked baggage. You are strongly advised to keep valuables, money and important documents by person.

Limits on Liability
On international transportation in Hong Kong, the liability limit is set by a treaty called the Warsaw Convention. Unless you buy excess valuation, the liability limit is $9.07 per pound ($20 per kilo) for checked baggage and US$400.00 per passenger for unchecked baggage. In some cases, where the Montreal Convention applies, the liability for delay is approximately US$1,375 per passenger.
