After independence, Ireland has developed well in airline industry. Now we will go through the main airlines in aviation market of Ireland.

Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus, Ireland's national airline, was registered as an airline on 22 May 1936 with an authorized capital of £100,000.

Five days after being founded, this company operated its first flight route between Baldonnel Airfield in Dublin and Whitechurch in Bristol.

And later that year, Aer Lingus acquired its second aircraft. From then on, Aer Lingus had developed considerably step by step.

On 28 April 1958, the airline offered the first transatlantic service.

In 1963, it added Carvair's to the fleet which could transport five cars by loading them into the fuselage. Then, jet aircrafts, airbuses, and new routes were carried out by degrees.

On 7 August 2007, the national airline of Ireland announced that it was time to establish its first base outside Ireland at Belfast International airport in Northern Ireland.

In July 2008, Aer Lingus has three Airbus A320 aircraft based at the airport, serving eleven European destinations.

With a wide variety of European and intercontinental routes, the national airline is always ready for your travel.

Ryanair
From a small airline into one of the Largest carriers in Europe, Ryanari has grown enormously after its establishment in 1985.

Although the number of passenger continued to increase at first, the airline generally ran at a loss and it was even in need of restructuring in 1991.

After that, Michael O'Leary was charged to making the airline profitable.

By 1995, Ryanair reanimated after the consistent pursuit of its low-cost business model.

Operating 729 routes across Europe and North Africa from 28 bases today, Ryanair is the third largest airline in Europe according to the number of passengers and the world's largest according to international passenger numbers.

Air Contractors
Founded in 1972, Air Contractors Limited has developed considerably and now is a freight airline based in Dublin.

It operates scheduled freight services throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa and its impressive services include postal organizations, express parcel operators and ad hoc charters.

Besides the above-mentioned main airlines, several other airline carriers also play important roles in domestic aviation market of Ireland.

Aer Arann is a regional airline based in Dublin.

CityJet Limited is an Air France subsidiary operating franchise services in Europe.

Wholly owned by Futura International Aieways, Futura Gael operates charter flights to Mediterranean countries, Eastern Europe and Egypt.
