Delayed luggage causes inconvenience for passengers. However, even though the airlines are trying hard to ensure the luggage are handled with care, the situation of delayed luggage happens.

If your luggage is delayed, you should keep your boarding cards and baggage reference numbers and report the problem to the staff of the airline at the airport baggage hall at once.

Then you will be asked to complete a Property Irregularity Report. Filling it out clearly and get a copy of that.

In addition, you also have to write a letter of complaint to the airline within 21 days.

In the case of baggage delay, the airline is liable unless it took all reasonable measures to avoid the delay.

The liability of an international carrier is limited to 1,000 SDRs under The Montreal Convention. You can benefit more by making a special declaration at check-in and paying a supplementary fee.

If you hold insurance, you should contact Mondial Assistance directly. If you do not hold personal travel insurance, your complaints must be submitted to the airlines.

Irish airlines announce that they will do their best to have delayed baggage delivered to your local address.
