Nobody wants a flight that ends up with damaged baggage. Therefore, it is important that you own a piece of well constructed luggage and pack your stuff right.
Sometimes you've done your job, but they still get your baggage damaged. Now let's see what to do if the misfortune happens when you take the Korea flights.

Reporting Damaged Baggage
1. The passenger should notify the airline's baggage center. Damage to items should be notified within 7 days of the corresponding flight. If damage to baggage is discovered after completing a number of flights, passengers should notify the airline of the last flight taken.

2. You should present the baggage check tags, and complete and submit the provided form, specifying the baggage content, inclusion or non-inclusion of valuables, bag type and distinctions, contact information etc.

Liability:
Korean Air operates a passenger service agreement based on the international convention set forth by the IATA consisting of 269 member airlines. If application of the Warsaw Convention is effected, maximum compensation for lost or damaged baggage is US$20 per 1kg (or the equivalent). If application of the Montreal Convention is effected, each passenger is entitled to 1,000 SDR (special drawing rights). However, if a larger value has been finalized and ad valorem duties paid beforehand, Korean Air is responsible for compensation of the reported value.

Asiana Airlines operates a passenger service agreement based on the Warsaw Convention which was adopted by the IATA consisting of 269 member airlines.
Asiana will pay the cost of any repair work based on the repair charge receipt. If repair is unfeasible, Asiana will buy new articles or pay cash compensation up to an amount arrived at by deducting 10% annual depreciation from the original purchase price, and the damaged articles are reverted to Asiana as a rule. Damages will not be compensated if caused by the passenger's intent or negligence.

Both airlines will not be liable for the loss, damage, or delayed delivery of fragile or corruptible articles and valuables, documents, medical supplies, locks, straps and other baggage accessories.
