When Korea Airlines Lost Your Luggage

So your baggage never show up and the Korean airline are not making any progress about it? Then you may have to face the hard fact that your baggage is lost.

Reporting Lost Baggage
You should make a full list of what you've lost, including items in your bag and the bag itself. Passengers should notify the airline of lost baggage or lost items from baggage within 21 days of the corresponding flight.

Liability:
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines all operate a passenger service agreement based on the international convention set forth by the IATA consisting of 269 member airlines.

If application of the Warsaw Convention is effected, Korean Air's maximum compensation for lost or damaged baggage is US$20 per 1kg (or the equivalent). If application of the Montreal Convention is effected, each passenger is entitled to 1,000 SDR (special drawing rights). However, if a larger value has been finalized and ad valorem duties paid beforehand, Korean Air is responsible for compensation of the reported value.

Asiana's liability is limited to 250 French gold francs per kilogram. However, Asiana will be liable for the declared value if the passenger pays the tariff fare based on a value he declares to Asiana in advance or at the time of check-in. The passenger needs to prove the actual amount of damages to support his claim.

Both airlines will not be liable for the loss, damage, or delayed delivery of fragile or corruptible articles and valuables, documents, medical supplies, locks, straps and other baggage accessories.
