It is generally acknowledged that passengers have been paid a lot attention to the in-flight services. Meanwhile, the passengers' demand of on ground services is becoming higher and higher.
Japanese airlines' courteous and effective on ground services ensure the passengers a pleasant journey. Generally, on ground services include check-in services, airport lounges services, coach services, baggage services, and so on.

Check-in Services
Most Japanese Airlines offer the international flight web check-in service which makes flying even more convenient. Passengers can select their own seats from the seat map. And passengers who have already selected a seat can change their seat by using Web Check-In Service. Since the airports are equipped with International Self Check-in Machines, passengers can get their boarding pass from it.

Airport Lounges Services
In order to make passengers fly with a feeling of satisfaction, some Japanese airlines companies like ANA have prepared airport lounge services. There are Private rooms for convenient meeting, and the lounge provides elegant and first-class services to the First Class passengers. Besides, the ANA lounge is well-equipped to ensure a pleasant stint before your departure. It offers various food and drink and has internet access and a library to fit the passengers' business needs.

As for JAL, when making a same day connection from a Japan Airlines group international First /Business Class flight to a Japan Airlines group domestic Japan flight, the international lounge is available at departure airport and the domestic lounge is available at connecting airport. Passengers also should be informed that Normal economy class passengers flying Japan Airlines may enjoy use of lounges at 41 airports worldwide, but cannot use domestic lounges at connection airports. Passengers connecting from Narita International Airport to Chubu Centrair Airport on Japan Airlines international connection flight may use the international lounges at Narita International Airport.

Coach Services
Some Japanese airlines offer coach services. Take JAL for example, it provides a free shuttle bus service between Frankfurt Airport and Dusseldorf (Hotel Nikko Dusseldorf). Besides, the free shuttle bus is also available between Amsterdam Airport and Antwerp (CROWNE PLAZA ANTWERP), and to Brussels (HILTON BRUSSELS, BRUSSELS ZAVEMTAM AIRPORT). The bus schedule is connected to the flight departure/arrival time.

Baggage information
When passengers cannot locate their luggage at the arrival airport, the airline companies have worked together to facilitate rapid baggage searches. This baggage tracing service allows passengers to check the status of the baggage on airline company's official site. To use this service, passengers need to provide their reference numbers and names.

Other on Ground Services
If JAL passengers' transit time is 5-24 hours or there is no transit flight within 24 hours, a room of airlines specified hotel will be accommodated at the transit location until the first transit flight is available. Boarding airline's airport lounge is available at the departure airport of JAL flight and service-applicable transit flight (Narita, J.F. Kennedy, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Santiago and Mexico City).

"Smart-e Service," which is offered by some airlines like ANA, aims to simplify air travel and offer convenience to passengers. This service provides series of services from reservations to boarding, using IT tools. Smart-e Check-in service, was previously only available for flights departing from Japan, but is now available for all routes.
