The difference between wheeled luggage and a spinner

Traveling has become so much comfortable now and this is mainly because of the wheels which have found their way onto virtually all type of suitcases.
Most of these wheeled luggages come in the sizes varying between 18" to 29". A spinner luggage in many ways is similar to a wheeled luggage with slight difference in the orientation of the wheels.

Most of the rolling luggages have either two or four wheels. The spinner luggages are a type of rolling luggage which are characterized with the presence of four wheels that rotate on two axes compared to normal wheeled luggage which have two wheels rotating on one axis. This special feature allows the bag to rotate and spin which is not otherwise enabled in a normal rolling luggage.

The spinner luggage can be rolled in any direction unlike the normal two-wheeled luggage. The presence of four wheels comes in handy for easy maneuvering in different areas. A big spinner luggage for instance can be turned on in any direction without much resistance.

Normal wheeled luggages are however more preferred as the construction complications are less. Moreover, the spinners tend to weigh a bit more than the two-wheeled luggage due to the presence of additional hardware.

However, there are few disadvantages with the spinners. For example:
• If the traveler is not very careful with the spinner while on a slope the luggage will roll away.
• Spinner luggages are a bit difficult to balance if any one of the four wheels is not properly balanced. The luggage might be thrown off, you never know!
• The probability of one of the wheels coming off is much more. As the spinner wheels are protruded toward the outer, they are more likely to wear and tear. Therefore, while selecting a spinner luggage one should not compromise on quality.

With any other wheeled luggage the problem of balancing does not arise at all. But with the spinners negotiating slopes and carpeted areas may be a problem at times.
While in an escalator it is quite easy to handle if you are trying to get one up or down or if your other hand is pre-occupied. Needless to say, the pros outweigh the cons and every rolling luggage is a traveler's delight.

So the differences between the normal wheeled luggage and a spinner are just minor ones and can be overlooked. But if you still feel the need of the additional comfort of turning the luggage in any direction, then you should definitely go for the spinners. Else, you are better off with a normal rolling luggage.
