Carry on luggage occupies the 'hot favorite' list of travelers around the world today.
While manufacturers do offer sizes that comply with airline regulations across carriers and countries, it helps to understand the ideal sizes so that you are not put off at some point during your journey. As a thumb rule, carry on luggage should ideally be less than 22" which is the maximum permissible size with most carriers. For short trips not exceeding a day

The 19 or 20 inch carry ons are ideal for these short trips, particularly if you are also using a smaller aircraft or you are packing in a hurry and need just some basic stuff.
