You must be absolutely sure that the wheels and the handles are of good, sturdy quality. Wheels should be strong enough to withstand the weight as well as have a smooth rolling function. Handles should be equally sturdy with recessed handle systems having a single push button release.

In case you are interested in buying a garment bag without wheels, you must opt for those with removable, contoured and padded shoulder pads.
Since shoulder straps have to take on the brunt of the baggage weight, it is necessary that they should be of strong and durable quality material.

Finally, you must take into consideration the zipper of the garment bag. As garment bags exert a lot of pressure on the zippers it is essential that the zippers be of good quality. Large teeth zippers made of nylon or metal are a good choice for carry on bags without wheels. And for better safety, a garment bag with heavy-duty rubberised ergonomic wheels would be the right choice.
