Cleaning Your Hard Suitcases - 6 Easy Tips

Category: Hard suitcases

Hard suitcases generally call for little or no maintenance at all except when they accompany you almost every week.
Cleaning and maintaining your hard suit cases in prime state is simple and easy through the following steps.

1. Determine the extent of cleaning required

When your hard suit case is not looking dirty, you can limit the cleaning exercise to a simple vacuum cleaning. Empty the contents (if any) and simple remove all the loose particles physically or using a vacuum cleaner.

2. When cleaning is considered essential

Empty your hard suitcase and use a dry brush to remove all dust and other particles on the external as well as internal surfaces. When there is no grease or other depositions you can use a damp cloth to wipe clean. When this is done, remember to leave your suitcase open for a few hours to allow the moisture to dry off.

3. Removing grease or other depositions

A liquid cleaner and a damp cloth can be employed to clean up the greasy spots. However, to make yourself doubly sure, test a small part of the affected area with the cleaner before you proceed to do the full cleaning.

4. Using spray cleaner

Mild spray cleaners work efficiency on hard suitcases. You can spray the external and internal surfaces and wipe off using a clean cloth. Residue from the cleaner can be removed with a moist cloth.

5. If you spot a bad scuff

If you spot a bad stuff on your hard suitcase, a mild abrasive, a Magic erase or even simple toothpaste will work wonderfully to address the issue. Trying out a smaller area initially will ensure that you don't add to the mess already created.

6. Check the closures

Finally, check the closures. Make sure that all the buckles, snap shut closures, zippers are in fine shape. Some metallic closures may call for a mild lubricant to make their movement easier.
