How many kinds are there for fabric

Fabrics are indispensible elements for daily life. You can find them in clothing, decor, furniture, bags and more.
The usage of fabrics varies according to the constructions and designs. You ever wonder there are how many types of fabrics? The commonly-used types are listed below:

Nylon - it is a kind of synthetic polymers, manufactured in 1935 at DuPon's research house. It is the most commonly-used fabric, employed into clothing, furniture and luggage. The major feature of nylon is durability and abrasion resistance. There is also a diversity of nylon, like nylon 6-6, nylon 5-10, nylon 12, etc.

Cotton - it is widely used for its breathability and softness, covering clothing, towels, socks, underwear, and fire hoses. Cotton is a kind of natural fiber, maybe not as durable as synthetic fabric, but it is quite cheap and comfortable. There are Shiny cotton, Egyptian cotton and Pima cotton.

Linen - linen is also a natural fiber which is much durable than cotton and more comfortable than nylon. It doesn't need special care for cleaning. Garments out of linen are very cool and fresh to wear in hot weather. Quite a wide range of products are made of linen, including bags, towels, tablecloth, clothing and curtains.

Polyester - this is a very popular synthetic fabric which needs little special care. It is very tough and sturdy. Quick dry, rather durable, and lightweight, polyester is often blended with other fabrics to make luggage, sportswear and footwear. However, it is not breathable and you can hardly get rid of stains from it.

Rayon - rayon is a kind of semi-synthetic fiber, also known as art silk. It often has a bright luster and looks very pretty and upscale. Rayon fabric is soft, highly absorbent, smooth but shrinks when gets wet. Washable rayon has been manufactured.

Besides what are mentioned above, fabric also includes acrylic and acetate, which are both synthetic.
