What are the major types of modern camping tents?

Both camping tents and party tents come in several types.
But whatever type of tent you select to take camping, you need to consider the factors, including size, materials, weather, strength and setup. Modern camping tents fall into three major types: A-frame tents, dome tents and cabin tents.

A-frame tents

The A-frame tent is one of the most classic tent designs. The construction of A-frame tents is quite simple. You can use the two poles at the end of tent to stabilize the tent by forming a triangle. There is also a central pole that forms the ridge. They are usually made of nylon, which are very lightweight and suitable for canoe trips, climbers and hunters. But this kind of tent is not resistant to windy weather conditions and can hold one person only.

Dome tents

Dome tents are very simple to put up with 2 or 3 poles passing through the centre of the roof, making dome tents one of the most popular tents in the market today. The basic type of the dome tent is hexagonal. This type of tents has good stability and can endure all types of weather conditions. Another characteristic of this kind of tents is that they are usually free-standing or self-supporting. You need no stakes or lines to stabilize it. They are great choices for backpackers and canoeists.

Cabin tents

Cabin tents are heavy, large and durable, which can provide spacious room for campers. The weight and size of cabin tents need many poles to support them. These poles are put together, with the purpose to avail you to pitch the tent easily and quickly. This kind of tents is best for car camping.
