How much duty-free alcohol could be taken into Turkey?

Purchasing alcohol in duty-free shops when traveling to a foreign country can sometimes help us with a significant saving.
However, don't overbuy them before you come back to Turkey as strict regulations do apply.

Turkey is the final destination

According to restrictions of Turkey Customs, if Turkey is your final destination, 1 or 2 bottles of wine and/or spirits are allowed to be taken in to the country without incurring an additional fee.

Note: 1. The capacity of the bottle should be 750ml or 700ml;

2. All alcohol taken with you is counted in this quantity including any alcoholic beverage, wine, spirit, beer, ale and so on.

Turkey is your transit airport

When Turkey is not your final destination and you just need to transit via Turkey, your duty-free alcohol would face the risk of being confiscated by Turkey security when you board your next flight. So it is recommended to purchase alcohol at the last transit airport.

Back to Turkey from other EU countries

If you come back to Turkey from any other EU countries, alcohol taken with you is not subject to alcohol limitations of Turkey Customs. But remember to ask sales assistants in the duty-free shop to pack your alcohol in a delicately sealed bag containing the receipt.

Actually, travelers flying within the European Union countries are not necessary to shop in duty-free shops because the goods they buy there have been taxed.
