What is airport check-in procedure?

All airlines require their passengers to arrive early for check in procedure though the certain time prior to the departure of a flight varies from airline to airline.
The process is handled by airline or airline agent and may span from 30 minutes to more than 3 hours. So what do you do during this procedure?

Identification - The first thing of check-in procedure is to check for valid documents. Basically, you need to show plane tickets, passport, visa, invitation letter and etc.

Luggage Checking - Checking luggage that is not allowed to carry on is obviously the main function of check-in procedure. Baggage that is to go in the cargo hold of aircraft needs to be checked, sealed and handed over to the agent.

Seating Registration - Usually you will be then offered an option of selecting suitable seats. You will be always asked if a window or aisle seat is all right.

Flight Confirmation - During this process, you can also inquire information about flights and the destination.

Upgrading - You can also choose to pay for upgrades of travel class.

Flight Miles Accumulating - For passengers who have enrolled in a frequent flyer program, they can also accumulate miles during check-in procedure.
