Luggage locks are used to secure luggage and prevent it from stealing in a way.
They are available in various forms like built-in locks for hard-side luggage, padlocks or lockable straps.

- Know exactly what kind of luggage the lock will be used for.

As motioned above, some hard-side luggage pieces have already their own built-in encoding locks. You need correct number combinations to open them. People usually buy extra locks for luggage with zipper pulls.

- Lock with a key or with a combination.

Though there are various kinds of luggage locks on the market, they are mostly divided into two types: locks that are opened by keys or those by combinations. A lock with a key can somewhat cause inconvenience as you have to carry the key with you. In this case, many may opt for locks that require memorizing a combination.

- Decide the size and material of the locks.

Luggage locks are usually made of brass, but there are also steel ones for extra strength. And make sure you choose smaller locks for backpacks or briefcases and larger one for bigger baggage pieces.
