What's the difference between Wenger and Victorinox?

Both Wenger and Victorinox are known for Swiss Army Knives.
And people always get confused about these two companies since they have so many similar features. The following information might be helpful for you to distinguish one of the companies from another.

Their history

Wenger was founded in 1886 and finally acquired by its rival Victorinox on 26 April 2005. This company began to produce regulation single-blade folding knives for soldiers of Swiss Army in 1893. The history of Victorinox dated back to 1884. And they have been one of the suppliers of Swiss Army Knife since 1891.

In 1908, Swiss Army claimed that half of their order would be going to Victorinox and Wenger was appointed to produce the other half of Swiss Army Knives. As a result, these two companies became the two official suppliers of Swiss Army Knife since then.

Their products

Wenger also provide kitchen and professional knives. Their pocket knives are so popular that they become the major product of Wenger. Wenger watches, just like Victorinox watches are in high demand in the market. Wenger produces multi-functional tools for outdoor adventure as well.

Victorinox has a wide range of products such as cutlery, timepieces, travel gear and fragrance. Fashionable clothes are also included in their product line.

Other differences

The emblems of these two companies are different. Wenger uses a Swiss cross in a square with rounded corners, but Victorinox get a cross in a shield.

Knives of Wenger are also known as the "Genuine Swiss Army Knife" while Victorinox' knives as the "Original Swiss Army Knife".
