How to prevent foot odor in sandals?

In summer, our feet tend to secrete sweat even wearing sandals.
Feet sweat makes the sandals and the soles of the feet in warm, wet conditions, hence causing foot odor. Foot odor is really an embarrassing problem to have, since it is not just laughing matter, sometimes it may lead to feet illness. Luckily, you can prevent foot odors in your sandals with some ways.

- Wear socks with your closed-toe sandals. Your sandals will absorb the sweat from your feet, therefore, increasing the stink and odor-causing bacteria of the sandals. Wearing socks can avoid feet and bacteria contact.

- Wear open-toed sandals if possible. Open-toes sandals can provide the great aeration on the feet, which helps to keep the bacteria from forming.

- Put deodorant insoles in your closed-toe sandals. These insoles have benefits of dehumidification and deodorization, helping to keep your feet odor free.

- Try deodorizer inside of your sandals. Apply deodorizers to the sole of your sandals (the most commonly used deodorizer products are powders).

- Buy sandals made of leather or cotton. Sandals out of synthetic fabrics are easy to breed bacteria and cause odor.

- Wash your feet with soap and soak them in warm water every day. You can mix the water with vinegar or salt.

- If you suffer from excessively sweaty feet, use antiperspirant on your feet. This will help to keep your feet dry.

- Take your sandals out in the sun. The sunlight can kill the bacteria that may elicit smelly odor in your sandals.

Ways to get rid of sandal odor

- Baking soda is a natural agent for getting rid of odor from your sandals. Apply some baking soda inside your sandals and leave them aside overnight. You need to shake off the soda from the sandals next morning.

Warning: If your sandals are made of leather, don't use this method. Baking soda may damage the leather fabric.

- Fill your sandals with dryer sheets. Keep them untouched overnight, and then take out the sheets before wearing.
