1. Check the baggage allowance with your airline before packing your luggage. Make clear that the restrictions on the carry-on and checked luggage including the exact size and weight of them. Then choose a right luggage. You can get the baggage info on your airline website or call for assistance.

Note: Generally speaking, carry-on bags are no more than 45 inches in size combining length, width and height. Forty lbs is the maximum for the total weight of your carry-on luggage. Checked luggage must not exceed 62 linear inches combing length, width and depth. The maximum weight per bag is 70 lbs. Generally you can have two checked luggage for free.

2. Pack your luggage correctly. Put lightweight items or clothes in your luggage. In regard to toiletries, figure out how much you need when going out, and then put them in small containers. Avoid taking large containers of toiletries, since they are heavier and would take too much space.

3. Leave excess weight and space in your luggage. When traveling, people like to buy souvenirs. To avoid excess baggage fees on return journey, leave excess weight and space in advance for souvenirs.

Plus: After packing your luggage, remember to weigh it at home before arriving at the airport. Ensure that the weight doesn't exceed the restrictions.
