What to do with delayed air baggage?

Have you been unable to locate your checked baggage upon arrival? Situations like this often make you anxious and angry with airport personnel.
Here are a few tips for you to deal with your delayed baggage.

1. If you find that your baggage doesn't arrive with you, report missing baggage to the airport immediately. In the customs hall at each airport, you will find a baggage service desk. You also can find an airline desk and ask for help there.

2. Ask the baggage claim staff to confirm whether your baggage is delayed or missing. If it is delayed, ask them to locate your baggage in their system to confirm your baggage is currently loaded onto next flight or due to be loaded on next flight.

3. If the staff assures you that your bag 100% will arrive on a specific flight, consider whether you want to wander around the airport to wait for your delayed baggage. Maybe you need to wait for sixty minutes or so. If you don't have time to wait, ask them to send the baggage to your hotel or home. If you agree to stay, ask if the airport can give you a meal voucher or something so you can go to a restaurant to wait.

4. If you need to wait for a longer time, ask for emergency purchase allowances and protocol for items like toiletries and clothes. Find out what kind of items are reimbursable.

5. Keep originals or copies of all travel documents and receipts.

Considerations

1. Notify the front desk when arrive at your hotel, so they can expect your baggage.

2. When arriving at the baggage service counter, you may find that three or four people ahead of you in line. It may take you up to an hour to wait to file a claim. So when waiting for your baggage, look around and find out where you have to go if your bag doesn't arrive. As soon as you realize your baggage is not coming, rush to the claim counter.
