How to DIY A Chic Laptop Bag for Lady Use Only

If you are really into something unique, then a common laptop bag may not be your cup of tea.
In that case, you may need a personalized laptop case which is made via a simple DIY process with useless or idle materials. Here are some steps guiding you on how to make a laptop bag by yourself.

Preparation Work

First, make sure you have sufficient items listed as following, a piece of yoga mat, two pieces of fabric with different patterns separately for making the shell/lining, ruler, marker, velcro, sewing machine, some bias tapes and pins.

Measurement and Calculation

Second, measure the length, width, depth and perimeter width of your laptop, then write the dimension down, to calculate the area of the fabric you are going to cut via a small calculation.
Normally, keep extra space for shell and lining to make sure that you don't need to cut the fabric again.

Shell Making Process

A marker is necessarily needed to mark on the shell. Make sure that it is suitable for laptop as it is well folded like an envelop and sewed by sewing machine. After double sewing its edges with both straight and zig-zag stitches, turn inside out. Try to put your laptop into the "envelop" to make sure whether the size is suitable. Hint, a little spare space for lining is preferable.

Lining Making Process

Fold the yoga mat into half and put it into the shell, then put the lining fabric into the folded yoga mat and let it extended to the flap part. Pin the shell and lining together with a bias tape and sew the adjoining part together.

Edges Sewing

Make sure the edges are sewed straightly with appropriate fabric along the flap of the bag (you can choose the zig-zag stitches).

Making Velcro

Put the laptop into the "envelop" to decide the most suitable position where the velcro can be located. Pin the position down, take out the laptop and sew the velcro on the body of the bag, add another velcro on the counterpart of the flap to make sure it matches the one on the body.
