To many people, the security of ID card, passport and credit cards is always a key concern in traveling.
The number one thing you should consider is the style. There are several types of ID security products, such as waist packs (fanny packs), holders with neck strap, or those in the shape of a common wallet. Generally speaking, a waist pack is relatively larger than the other two kinds, and has several zippered pockets for separate organization of the passports, IDs or other valuables. Some even have clear PVC protective inserts for separation and small side pockets for coins and other loose items. One important thing to look at in purchasing such a waist pack is the length of the belt. Fortunately, most packs have elastic waist straps that can be adjusted to any size.
A holder with neck strap is simple in design yet very secure. It usually has clear ID window on one side and pockets on the other to safeguard passport, which ensures a hands-free check-in and worry-free boarding. At the same time, it has nothing metallic to set off detectors. In some brands, the neck cord is adjustable and removable. In addition, the size of the ID security holder could not be neglected either. Consider beforehand what kinds of things you need to put into the holder, only the passport, ID card or also include the credit cards, even full-size currency.
Personal portable safes provide travelers with more options for travel safety. Take a look at its construction and material, and you will believe that the portable safe, like a black box in shape, is almost indestructible because it is made from steel plate and cable with a very strong padlock. This cubical-shaped box is created with 1.2mm steel plate. What is crucial is that it can be locked onto a part of heavy furnishings or fixture with a padlock having a double locking steel hasp. The 50cm long steel cable has a 4mm diameter. Obviously, it is impossible for anyone to take it away quickly and quietly.
Although it weighs only about 620 gms, it offers enough space to hold two European style passports, credit cards, documents, cash and travelers checks. With almost all your valuables in this indestructible box, you will have a peaceful mind and make the most of your vacation.
The second consideration is the material. Most ID security products are made of leather, silk or nylon. Those made of leather are more durable and attractive while the silk ones are lightweight and will stay dry and comfortable when worn close to the body. As for the nylon holders, they are not only lightweight and waterproof, but also affordable.
Besides, there is some information you'd better keep in mind to further reduce the risks.
1. Do not carry all your identity components.
It is recommended to carry the least number of personal information in travel, that is to say, only to take those necessary documents and credit cards with you, leaving the rest at home.
2. Carry copies instead of the originals when it is possible.
Though copies of passports may not be acceptable, copies of marriage certificate will work in most cases.
3. Always keep control over your personal belongings wherever you go.
Never leave those important documents (especially your passport) in the hotel room, safe box or even with the lobby personnel of the hotel, and never place them in a luggage which you intend to check-in at the airports.
